About the Book
One of my parental duties is to get my children out of bed each morning, a task that doesn't always make me the most popular person in the house. And even on the days when my kids would rise before me, they’d barely be able to muster audible grunts as they started their mornings. Certainly, early mornings in my home were anything but memorable. This got me to thinking, “There has to be a better way to start the day.”
So I thought. Hypothesized. Experimented. And Failed. Over and over. Until finally...EUREKA!
One night at bedtime, I asked my children, “When you wake up tomorrow morning, what will be your first words of the day?”
I had no idea what I had just started. My children took this task VERY seriously.

When morning came the next day, I walked into their rooms and repeated the question, “WHAT WILL BE YOUR FIRST WORDS OF THE DAY?”
My daughter woke right up, beaming from ear-to-ear and said, “I LOVE YOU!”
I then headed into my son’s room, repeated the question, and he proudly said, “I LOVE MY FAMILY!”

AWESOME!!!
Years later, we still enjoy this family tradition - there's just no better way to start the day. My kids love it simply because it’s fun. My wife and I love it for so much more…
1. It has become a simple and fun family tradition
2. It gets everyone’s day – parents and kids – started off on the right foot
3. My kids wake up happy and excited to share their first words of the day
4. My children start their day saying something meaningful
5. It has created many special family moments and happy memories

Which brings me to why I wrote this book: I'd like to share this tradition with you.
Written in rhyming verse using a catchy trisyllabic rhythm (stressing every third syllable), and illustrated with fun, simple, colorful pictures, this book is the perfect primer to get this tradition started in your home.
In addition, the book also includes several journal pages for parents to record and forever preserve their child's 'first words of the day.' For families that use this feature, it's more than just a book - it's a keepsake.

It is my hope that this tradition will bring as much joy and happiness to your family as it has brought to mine. If it has, I hope you too will consider sharing it with others.
